Why is ergonomics important?

October 13, 2020

Ergonomics is the science of fitting the task/job to the worker to decrease injury and improve outcomes such as productivity and morale.

As technology advances we spend more time than ever in front of computer screens: at work and also at home. Factor in the age of Covid-19 and for many the traditional office environment has been replaced with kitchen tables and living room couches as vast numbers of workers are operating out of home offices. Frequently these home office spaces are not physically conducive to a productive, 8-10 hour work day.

Ergonomic assessments will provide the missing pieces to the home office puzzle. Postural education and corrections will reduce the risk of neck and shoulder pain, headaches, back and shoulder pain. Often, simple and cost effective modifications can make the difference between a painful and healthy work experience.
